Baykar has vaulted its Akinci unmanned-combat drone into a new league, launching the Kemankes-1—a 200-kilometre, AI-guided mini-cruise missile that shredded an airborne target during a 30 June live-fire near Edirne. The weapon’s onboard neural vision tracks moving objects for pinpoint, one-metre strikes, giving Akinci an air-to-air and suppression role previously reserved for manned fighters. Engineers say forthcoming tests will pair multiple missiles with swarming autonomy, while Turkey’s defence ministry eyes full certification and first export offers by 2026. If fielded, the system could recast drone warfare by combining long dwell time with precision, low-cost intercepts across land, sea and air.
