American fashion icon Iris Apfel has died at the age of 102

American fashion icon, Iris Apfel has died at the age of 102.

Apfel, who was born in 1921, was was primarily an interior designer and became a public figure due to a contract that saw her and her husband consult on interiors in the White House for six presidents.

Her death was announced on her social media accounts and by her agent, who called her "extraordinary" and said she was the personification of style.
