Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop says the Australian Services Union’s push for a reformed Qantas uniform seems “very peculiar” given the state of the world.
The union is calling for Qantas to allow more flexibility in staff's uniform requirements, including allowing pronouns to be displayed on nametags.
“I am over virtue signalling,” Ms Bishop said.
“We are in a most dangerous time, right now, of World War Three … we’ve got an invasion of a democratic country which is fighting for its very existence.
“We’ve got such things to worry about rather than this minutiae about what somebody’s going to wear in an aircraft as an employee.”
