Blackpool Outfits 2. You never really know how you look in an outfit - and this includes the close inspection in the full length bedroom mirror! That sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? Maybe it’s something to do with the inability to have a detached view of oneself… But it immediately explains why the majority of women simply don’t look well turned out. They slip something on in a shop, order online, take advice from a friend, follow some magazine trend, or panic buy and then head off out looking… well, looking a little lacking. They would have been far better to have dragged out their old favourite from the wardrobe and zhuzhed it up somehow, with maybe an expensive looking necklace. But no, you know women, they need to feel special – and possibly appealing - and that is all about modelling a lovely new outfit, isn’t it – even if it does make them look frumpy, fat or fashionless!
Now “Growing up” as I have had to do over these last years, I’ve never had the “benefit” of female friend’s advice. I’ve had to make the mistakes and learn the lessons the hard way.
“Good heavens Amanda, didn’t they have it in your size!”,
“Ha! Did your granny have a throw out?”,
“Do you know love, everybody can see right through your dress in this light?”,
…or worse, when I was once dancing away in a packed Elvis Convention then spun around to see the contents of a large table staring up me and smirking, and so well I hastily headed off to the Ladies to discover my stockings had slipped down and my dress had become scrunched up thus revealing a lot more that this girl was comfortable with. My date simply couldn’t understand why I was suddenly taken so coy!
But to see myself on video! Well, dearie me, there’s just no hiding is there? Take for instance my outfit in the previous video… I personally think I look rather delightful. The dress is a size 12 – a high-fashion New York label which because I am a couple of inches taller than the average female the hem sits a good inch above the knee giving me quite the “leggy” look which I think looks very womanly and so together with the fuchsia-pink high heels emphasises rather an attractive calf shape. The total effect resembling quite a confident and rather elegant female.
But here’s where it gets a little weird, you know…. Just looking at this image I simply can’t believe that this is me and this is what I actually look like in public. Confused, I blink and look again. I don’t see anything whatsoever that isn’t feminine. Every aspect of her appearance, every mannerism, every movement is quite simply charmingly feminine. Then, momentarily she raises her dress revealing soft fleshy thighs. Hmm… I feel rather embarrassed just watching…
But good heavens, this is me, well, the new me, and I guess I rarely think about how others might see me. And is something I really can’t quite get my head around…
It’s been several years now and although I’m conscious of some of the changes, many things seem to have come about naturally and beyond my control or my awareness! But who is this woman on the videos? She seems so…. You know… so….
