Celebrating Indonesia's Independence Day in FASHION! ????????

Today I check out some of the Merdeka competitions and celebrations for Indonesia's Independence Day. Part of the celebrations included a fascinating Independence Day Fashion Parade in Jember, Indonesia. It was quite a day, after Ibnu and I hiked a mountain in the morning(you can check that out in the previous video) we went just down the street to see some fun games being played. It felt like I jumped right into the action. As soon as I arrived, the announcer MC who spoke some English greeted me and invited me to join in on some of the festivities. Watching those kids jump around in those potato sacks with a helmet on was very entertaining. After the games, Ibnu and I jumped on the bike and we drove to a neighboring village to check out the Independence Day fashion parade. That was quite a sight to see. There were women dressed up in beautiful elaborate dresses, men and children dressed up in all types of different costumes, it was incredible to witness. In this video, I think you get a pretty good idea of what it was like to be there, especially as the only foreigner in the entire place.

Thank you to the city of Jember and the local villages for welcoming me to their home and letting me take part in all the festivities. It was an incredible experience and I enjoyed it very much, thank you!
