For Fall/Winter 2010 ready-to-wear, John Galliano developed themes introduced in Dior Couture earlier that year, merging lingerie references with a 1940s film noir aesthetic. Inspirations included Lauren Bacall and Arletty in Hôtel du Nord, shaping the collection around the image of a femme fatale with side-parted hair and red lips.
The show opened with wartime trenchcoats and silver lamé dresses, then moved into lingerie-inspired looks such as lace-trimmed cami-knickers, satin teddies, boudoir baby dolls, and delicate flowered chiffon dresses. Many transparencies were achieved with layered constructions: a satin bra-and-knicker set seen through black tulle, stocking tops under copper lamé, and lingerie details suggested through stitched-in underslips.
Eveningwear featured a flesh-pink corset with a mint-green sequined skirt, a Chantilly lace basque with a black ruffled skirt, and a red satin gown. Throughout, lingerie elements were integrated into outerwear, blending boudoir references with cinematic glamour.
