Datuk Seri Dr K.K. Chai, the founder and executive chairman of KK Mart Group, expressed deep remorse and issued a public apology regarding the controversy surrounding the sale of socks bearing the word "Allah".
At a press conference held at Menara KK, Chai openly condemned the mistake, emphasising his personal disbelief and refusal to condone such products.
Chai said he acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating that he too could not accept the sales of socks bearing the word Allah, what more to print such products.
He said his team had never made such a mistake in his 23 years in the business.
As soon as the issue went viral on March 13, the group, he said, took an immediate step to make an apology on social media two hours after learning about it.
