Lakme Fashion Week spoke strongly about LGBT rights. Here we raise a toast to genderless fashion! We saw Prateik Babbar bending the gender norms at the LFW. He was accompanied by multi-talented make-up artist, Jason Arland sporting a sheer, heavily layered and frilled off-white gown. ‘Bye Felicia’ by Sohaya Misra for her label ‘Chola’ invited the dressers to be what they wished; no matter how much off the beaten path their behaviour was. Queer fashion is more than just a trend, it is a social movement. The new bunch of designers are capitalizing on fashion’s gender blur. And perhaps one of the strongest protests for being the person you wish to be. Designer Sumiran Kabir Sharma of Anam brand says, “India is not just ready for queer fashion, but is ready to include the concept of queer identity and the eradication of the section 377.”
