This is a liquid nitrogen tattoo technique. Despite the white smoke emanating from the branding iron when applied to animals, the whole process doesn't cause pain to the cattle or horses. It's called the freeze branding method. Traditionally, branding involved using a red-hot iron directly on the animals, causing severe burning sensations that were unbearable for the animals. However, with liquid nitrogen freeze branding, this pain is greatly reduced, and sometimes the process can be completed without any sensation at all.
