!!!NAIL BALANCING EXPIMRENT!!!
Materials Needed:
~ 11 Nails
~ Hammer
~ Block of Wood
Step 1) Hammer a nail into the block of wood.
Step 2) Lay a nail on a table and alternate the direction of 10 nails.
Step 3) Place a nail on top of the center nail making sure the two points are opposite of each other.
Step 4) Pinching the 2 long nails together carefully lift the nail set up and place it on top of the nail you hammered into the block. Do they Balance?
HOW IT WORK:
The center of gravitation or simply center of gravity is the equal gravitational force on an objects balance point. When we look at a nail you might think that the center of gravity is in the middle of the nail. How-ever the nail has a head on one end which adds weight to one side of the nail. So to balance the nail the pointed side would have to be slightly longer then then side with the head. If we cut the nail in half, even though the pointed side would be longer, its weight would be exactly the same as the side with the head. So the center of gravity would not be the center of the object but would be where an object has equal weight distribution.
When you pick something heavy up, its weight combines with yours but its weight isn't evenly distributed. When people carry things on their head, they combined the objects center of gravity with their own center of gravity and the two have one balance point. Just like the the interlocking nails balance perfectly on the head on one nail.
If you lost all your toes on both of your feet you would have to relearn to walk.
