In conjunction with the exhibition “Brava! Women Make American Theater,” Emily Coates and Brian Seibert, from Yale’s Dance Studies program, zoom in on two subjects of the exhibition: the choreographers Loie Fuller and Agnes de Mille. Taking inspiration from the dance critic Edwin Denby’s classic essay “Notes on Nijinsky Photographs,” they consider what still photographs can tell us about the moving art of dance.
