Previously, Paralympic athletes have been penalised or even disqualified for showing a tattoo of a brand or logo - including the Olympic rings - while competing.
According to The New York Times, the International Paralympic Committee has now dropped the long-standing ban, but did not reveal why.
IPC’s chief brand and communications officer Craig Spence told the Times “Athletes with such tattoos do not need to cover them up.”
