I wrote lyrics to Dexter Gordon’s solo on “Shiny Stockings” from the record Gettin’ Around.

I don’t normally write lyrics for the public to hear and I’m actually not a huge fan of putting lyrics to solos! But these lyrics came to me in real time as I was driving and listening between a rehearsal and a concert…that doesn’t happen often ????

I have 2 ways of listening to music that helps it “stick” for me. I’ll either listen to a single record on repeat for weeks OR I have a current mix of 440 songs (jazz, rock, Brazilian etc.) that I put on shuffle for weeks and Gettin’ Around is definitely in both mixes!

Fun Facts about me:
#1: I write lyrics to all songs I write even if they’re instrumental, this is so I know why I’m playing it.

#2: I REALLY do not like talking on the phone! I’d much rather meet in person. There are very few ppl that I can be on the phone with!

i’m a pretty positive person but every once in a while I can get angry, but it only lasts for about 10 seconds ????????☺️
