These days, a lot of artists prefer using wireless tattoo machines, including me. Not getting tangled up in a cord makes it easier to feel like I can move freely while I"m working.
However, it has its drawbacks - eventually, the batteries will hold onto less power and run out faster *and* you can't always travel with the batteries. On top of that, if a battery isn't performing perfectly, it'll have uneven output (which usually isn't a problem when you're using an RCA cord).
My take is that I'd rather use a battery 99% of the time. It's worth the convenience. But I highly recommend having the option of using a cord nearby in your studio just in case going wireless causes any issues.
