Lining with a 14 should feel different than lining with a 3 liner.

Because the tattoo needle is moving up and down, you're not “drawing” a line across the skin with your machine like you would with a pencil on paper. Instead, it’s making a bunch of small “deposits” of ink in the skin.

If these deposits don’t overlap with one another, the gaps between them will make the line look faded. You make the line look more solid by keeping your machine angled between 60 and 80 degrees, which will make sure the deposits overlap.
