Much of the score to the Disney film was taken from Tchaikovsky's ballet The Sleeping Beauty. In this video, I present many of the major musical moments and explain what happens in the ballet while the same music plays. I've done it in film order rather than ballet order (except at 3:58 for simplicity's sake), so the story jumps around. Some of the images have been reversed to avoid YouTube's copyright issues.
The ballet has three acts and a prologue: The Christening, The Spell, The Vision, and The Wedding.
The Christening: Fairies come to Aurora's christening and give her gifts. The evil fairy Carabosse arrives and curses her to die after pricking her finger on a spindle. The Lilac Fairy alters the curse so that Aurora will sleep for 100 years until a prince awakens her with a kiss.
The Spell: Aurora has her 16th birthday and dances with four suitors. Carabosse enters in disguise and gives Aurora the spindle on which she pricks her finger. The Lilac Fairy puts the entire kingdom to sleep and hides the castle.
The Vision: The Prince, on a hunting trip and disappointed with his life, encounters the Lilac Fairy, who gives him a vision of Aurora and leads him to her. He kisses her, breaking the spell.
The Wedding: Various fairy tale characters dance at Aurora's wedding, including Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, Beauty, The Beast, and the Bluebird.
