UIUC AAA 36th Annual Fashion Show 2022: Better Together | Full Show

For the past 36 years, the Asian American Association (AAA) has hosted Fashion Show on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. While it originally began as a traditional fashion show, it eventually evolved into the dance showcase that it is known for today. Fashion Show, AAA's largest event of the year, showcases both culture and talent through choreography, digital media, and more.

This year's Fashion Show was made possible with the support of Campus Circle, HERE Champaign, Latea, Octave, and Smile Student Living.

Theme: Better Together
For over a year, everyone worldwide has faced new challenges brought about by the pandemic. These include combating COVID-19, figuring out how to work from home or attend school online, and being separated from friends and loved ones. Many struggled with self-isolation and maintaining a healthy mindset. However, we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Students are starting to return to campus, people are getting vaccinated, and the country is beginning to open up again. We are in the home stretch, and by continuing our efforts, we will be able to reach the finish line. We want this year’s show to be a celebration of reconnecting, a reminder that we are not alone. Although we experienced very divisive times, we want to promote a unified front. After all, we are “Better Together.”


FASHION SHOW SCENES

Bizcaz: With stand-out choreo to a variety of music that gets you moving, Bizcaz is here to show everyone what dance is all about! We want to encourage everyone to keep thinking on the bright side and remind you that there is support and love all around you, even in the most unexpected circumstances.

Modern: Friendships, breakups, and drama–hold on tight, Modern will take you up high in the air and low on the floor through story and contemporary dance.

Cultural: With a trip around East Asia, the Cultural scene presents both traditional and modern dances to celebrate the similarities and differences of both styles.
