Rifat Ozbek is a Turkish designer who began his career in Italy, working with Walter Albini.

He moved to England to study architecture in the 1970s, but left to attend Saint Martin's School of Art.

His early garments were influenced by the East and were commissioned by a network of boutiques.

The first collection was released in 1984.

With a multi-ethnic, sumptuous, and innovative aesthetic, it has established itself globally since the second part of the 1980s.

Collections are frequently inspired by art, but also by costume: among the most well-known themes are existentialists, orientalists, Capri in the 1950s, Martha Graham's ballets, certain films or novels, but also concepts adopted from street style and with a disco-look, rethought in a prêt-à-porter key.
