A lot of new tattoo artists ask what voltage they should use and unfortunately, there's not one "right" answer.
The best way to figure out what voltage to use while you’re lining is to decide how fast you are comfortable moving your hands and then adjust the machine speed to match that speed. The faster you move, the higher the voltage, and vice versa.
If you’re chewing out the skin (ex: you see a cut in the fake skin after you tattoo a line), lower the voltage to slow the machine down. If your line is faint, not enough ink is getting into the skin. Increase the voltage so the machine’s speed matches your own hand speed.
What questions do you have about voltage? Let me know in the comments ????
