Cutaneous horns are rare, cone-shaped growths made of compacted keratin, the same protein in hair and nails. They can pop up anywhere on the body and look like tiny animal horns, sometimes just a few millimeters long but occasionally several inches tall.
While most are harmless, some can hide skin cancer at the base, so doctors usually remove and test them. A strange and shocking reminder that our skin can do some wild things.
