Blackpool Mini - Which brings us to the rather large subject of stockings. Doesn’t it, my dearest Paul?
Sometime 2019 I met an old Teddy Boy whilst out dancing in the city centre. There I was bopping away when this group arrived through the door and took camp at a table near the window. They were chattering away all except this big chap who was clearly enjoying watching me dance. The following week this group popped up again and well, clearly this chap took rather a shine to me as he asked me out to dinner. To be honest he was well out of my preferred age range but he had wonderful old-school charm. And so, over the following months we explored many a Rock n’ Roll event with me proudly introduced as his new girlfriend. Turned out he was extremely popular on the scene and I soon realised I’d become a chauffeuse to a Rock n’ Roll icon.
Now as any “woman of the world” knows there are strict guidelines, shall we say, to the life of a Mistress, which ultimately boil down to, patiently and sweetly listening, not allowing him to treat you as his new wife, and most importantly not asking anything whatsoever about his “other life”. So even though we were enjoying entirely innocent outings, it obviously came as a quite a shock when his actual long-term girlfriend saw a picture of us on Facebook and hit the warpath.
“Amanda. Sorry love, I have to interrupt you there…. What does any of this have to do with, er… stockings? Well, we’re all waiting here…”
Well yes, I’d always quite favoured the 50s look - you know, back when women were women and shapely, and men were well, handsome and kept their wives happy. I’d already figured out that a knee length dress with a full skirt suited my shape and style but now my eyes were popping out watching the girls jiving away in their fabulous frocks and petticoats, swirling about flashing their stockings. They looked so incredibly feminine and represented exactly what a woman should be. And so before long my clothes rails were full of vintage 50s frocks and for the first time I attempted a fully fashioned stocking to complete the look. I think the first time I wore stockings was the 50s Dress and Stockings video which was October 2020. That dress was my first Rockabilly frock. Golly, I got so excited about creating the look I had seen in the Rock n Roll halls. I rushed out and tracked down my first tulle petticoat and if you watch the video you see that the stockings are stretch so I know they will be What Katie Did, their Contrast Black Seamed Champagne Stockings. This became a look I rather liked and thought was wonderfully feminine and suited me rather well. During the lockdown I got to thinking about all the pinups created during the war years to give encouragement to our brave men on the front line and so decided to see if I could recreate the look myself. Golly, I’m not convinced I have enough curves in the right places but this started a trend with me which I’m still attempting to reproduce. Plus now, of course, I’m learning to Jive and regularly you’ll find me down a Rock n Roll dance hall. And I’ve become quite used to wearing stockings just like the ladies of that era. Occasionally for a video I will experiment and that’s where the Bridal white lace stocking popped up from which I carry off quite well. I do like an ultra-glossy nylon covering all my legs. This is especially so with the fully fashioned vintage stockings which have no stretch at all and move slightly as I walk creating a highly sensual caress all along my legs – something that takes a bit of getting used to. They are also pretty expensive starting at £30 a pair which gets costly when you snag a pair putting them on. As with the ladies back in the day I wear thin satin gloves to carefully roll each stocking up over the knee then up onto the thigh. Once clipped securely in position the rest of the day and evening is spent carefully avoiding catching them or allowing a man’s rough hands to ruin them.
Regarding my preference, I do like all the fuss and girlie faff of real stockings and the outfits that goes along with them. They feel sensational. But nobody mentioned that going to the loo with a voluminous dress, petticoat and stockings can be quite the challenge, especially if I need an urgent pee! I do sink happily into all this feminine nonsense – not because I’m driven by some kind of obsession but simply because that seems to be who I naturally am. My original transition to soft smooth hairless body was somewhat of a shock that took a little getting used to. Following that with pulling on tights, holdups or even stockings each day as I go out was at first a sensation that I enjoyed, but all these years later it has become part of being the women I am and something I give thought to make my legs look most attractive with the outfit I’m wearing. I’m often told that I have gorgeous legs and so I display what I think looks sexy but classy and elegant as any women does.
But, which do you prefer?
